Overview
An apostille is the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stamp that makes an Indian document valid in the 120+ countries that are party to the Hague Apostille Convention. Before the MEA will apostille a document, it usually needs attestation from the relevant state authority, such as the education department, home department or a chamber of commerce.
We handle the whole chain for you: checking that the document is eligible, getting state-level attestation, submitting to the MEA’s authorised agency and returning the apostilled original with tracked delivery.
What’s included
- Eligibility check for each document
- State-level attestation (HRD, Home or SDM, as applicable)
- MEA apostille submission and follow-up

Frequently asked questions
Which countries accept an apostille?
Every country that is party to the Hague Apostille Convention, including the USA, UK, most of Europe, Australia and Japan. Countries outside the Convention, such as the UAE, require embassy legalisation instead. See our Apostille & Legalization service.
Can a photocopy be apostilled?
Generally no. The MEA apostilles originals, or notarised copies for some commercial documents. We confirm this for each document before you send anything.
